Two men. One unbelievable story.
THE LAST TEARDROP is the incredible journey of Bobby Wilson, a singer and entertainer who gained critical acclaim for his remarkable stage recreation of Jackie Wilson, the musical legend who passed away in 1984. Little did Bobby know that his tribute performances would lead him on an unbelievable journey of self-discovery and family drama involving some of soul music’s biggest names, such as The Four Tops and James Brown.
Through a shocking discovery, Bobby uncovers a web of family secrets involving the mob, murder and financial fraud. As he struggles through the emotional turmoil of his newfound family history and a litany of conflicts, he also continues his goal to bring the healing power of music to fans and children in the foster care system.
THE LAST TEARDROP examines Bobby’s experiences and the challenges faced by children needing homes while the system struggles to keep up after the impact of COVID.
Featuring rare archival footage of Jackie Wilson, stunning reenactments and exclusive interviews with music icons including Joey Dee of The Starliters, Tony Orlando, and Peter Hernandez, the father of Bruno Mars.
THE LAST TEARDROP takes you on an unforgettable journey through the world of music, the resilience of the human spirit and is proof that life is much stranger than fiction.
THIS IS A SPECIAL Q&A SCREENING WITH THE PRODUCER/DIRECTOR & GUESTS
Tony Grier – Director/Producer
In 1994, Tony Grier took the plunge into film marketing by contacting the Academy Award nominated (editing) feature documentary “Hoop Dreams” and created a post-release tour of the subjects, Arthur Agee and William Gates. By creating an opportunity for the films central figures to participate in a Q&A and panel discussion opened the door for future projects and collaboration with others in filmmaking. “The Last Teardrop” was yet another opportunity for Grier to create a unique blend of substance with a social cause tied to the entertainment industry. As Producer/Director of the feature docudrama it catapulted Grier into the mainstream of documentary filmmaking. “Meeting Bobby Wilson was a special time for me. I identified immediately with his life-journey and the impact it would have on young people if we brought it to the big screen. Another positive was knowing we would bring to light the industry we call Foster Care”. Grier has transitioned over to feature films and with his AQuest Films, LLC is producing several projects that will open up more doors.
Bobby Wilson
After a stint in the Navy, Bobby’s musical journey began in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was invited to join the world-famous Doo-Wop Group “The Love Notes” by Papa Mars, with his son, Little Bruno (now known as Pop Star Bruno Mars.)
While Bobby was emerging as an entertainer, he came across many opportunities to recreate the persona of Jackie Wilson because of his uncanny resemblance, voice, and moves that were almost identical to Jackie’s. During this time, he learned that he was actually Jackie Wilson’s biological son!
Since that time, Bobby has emerged as a Global Entertainer with his own shows including: “Jackie Wilson, The Legacy Continues,” “Bobby Wilson, The Motown Years,”
Bobby has opened for his friend Bruno Mars, and now stars in Clubs, Casinos, theatre venues, and Cruise Ships around the world. Many watch with anticipation as Bobby Wilson’s success continues to soar through the “Grace of God”, he says as the singer, the entertainer, and the artist!
